This is the first volume as part of "Women On The Move: A Four Volume Set. A Series Of Books On The American West And Midwest By Women Who Traveled And Settled There Between 1835 and 1877." Reprint editions of books by 19th century American women who traveled westward. 1972 facsimile reprint edition. Fold out map, and fold out circular from February 2nd, 1849, which she published, asking women to join her on a ship to California as the new "California Association of American Women", to help settle the west and counteract the evils of a woman-less society. Only three women took her up on it. Farnham's husband has died in California, leaving her and their two sons with property 3,000 miles away. A fascinating story.
